The “three Marias”, Le Tre Marie, are my grandmother, my mother and my mother-in-law. All three were named Maria. They were true daughters of this land as they were farmwives their whole lives. They tended the vegetable garden, raised chickens and rabbits, took care of the pig as if it were one of the family and they could roll out the thinnest egg dough to make the best home-made tagliatelle noodles. Never ostentatious, always measured, they possessed a wealth of human qualities in mind and heart. (gi.ma.).
